Scott,

Beverage Warehouse in Culvery City has Kübler and St. George, as does K&L in Hollywood. Hi-Time probably also has some, but I haven't looked.

Oh, and the BevMo in Pasadena was carrying St. George last time I was there, too.

Marleigh, where did you find the absinthe around here? I haven't seen anything more exotic than Lucid, but then I haven't been looking too hard lately.

Ah yes. I experienced that magic as well. It seemed like they couldn't be bothered to sell a drink that tasted like licorice unless they made it as sweet as Good 'n' Plentys.

Oh, and probably a whole ounce of simple syrup and then some anisette to add to its candy-like quality.

Although I didn't have an entire one, I did sneak a sip from a one that Rick had oredered during one of our late-night bar stops. It was tasty, but unfortunately I can't recall:

1) Which bar we were at.

2) What brand of Absinthe was used.

Rick probably remembers though!

I must second Erik's lovely recommendation of the Le Demon Vert. It is quite the mystical substance. I must admit, however, I'm having trouble tearing myself away from absinthe suissesses. It is going to be quite sad when my bottle of absinthe is gone... finding any brand in PA is a world of hurt.

Erik,

Thanks for the tip! I found the recipe on Rick's site, so I'll definitely give it a try when I can tear myself away from a frappé for long enough...

Next try the Le Demon Verte from Hollinger and Schwartz' "Art of the Bar" making it with Absinthe. Very tasty! Send me a note if you need the recipe.
