Red Hook, huh? That's a rare bird in these parts. I may be in Philly for Book and the Cook come October. Might be just the right time to grab a train and slide up to LeNell's for rye and bitters. Unbeknowst to anyone else in the house, there is no rye budget: it just seems to appear. Magically. Disappears the same way.

Cherries in rye, though...I could get on the outside of some of that.

Hey stranger!

For $50 off it's going to be a close call between that and the Red Hook Rye I'm planning on ordering. Apparently I need to start saving my pennies...

I blew all of July and August's budgets yesterday while rum/tequila/absinthe/whiskey shopping, but I find it hard to be upset about it. Why not eat Ramen if you can have a glass of absinthe with it?

Working on that Christmas wish list already? I jump-started Christmas with a birthday wants (it's coming up in a few weeks); some Mud Puddle reproduction cocktail books dominate...And Gwydion got me thinking all sorts of absinthe thoughts.

As for your own list, I was talking to Mike after the session and he said that he wanted to extend a discount to anyone who attended Tales on his "professional distilling apparatus" — you know, that copper gizmo he set into a big ol' rice cooker — but in the excitement, forgot to mention it. For $50 off, I'm thinking of telling my friends to skip the iTunes cards and pool their beer money for a gift that keeps on givin' ~ shoot me an email on the side and I'll send on the info.

And I'll second that on Martin's rum pot: Capital "D" lowercase "licious." I may blow August's rum budget on that alone. Nah, more likely, I'll bump the budget
