Yellow Monkey

I’ve already mentioned that I spend a lot of free work time trolling my favorite food and drink blogs for new recipes, but one of my favorite places to peruse just for fun is CocktailDB. When I pick up new bottles or fill empty spots in my bar (as I did over the weekend), I love to cruise the database for new concoctions to challenge my mixing skills and my tastebuds.
Naturally, when I picked up a new bottle of Galliano my first thought was of the delightful Yellow Bird, one of my favorite drinks at one of my favorite bars, the venerable Tiki-Ti. CocktailDB didn’t disappoint, but my bar did—no creme de banana, so no Yellow Bird for me…but what’s this? No banana liqueur, but a banana? A Yellow Monkey sounds like a perfect match!

½ oz Galliano
½ oz light creme de cacao
½ oz light rum
1 oz soy creamer / heavy cream
fresh, ripe bananaBlend all ingredients with ice and pour into a cocktail glass.
While I may not have had any creme de banana in the house, I did have a very (very) ripe banana that happily met its fate in this delicious creamy drink. Sweet and slightly savory from the Galliano and the texture of the banana, cream and ice, the Yellow Monkey is a delightful way to end an evening.

I love Galliano and I constantly search for new recipes… Although I’m not a huge Vodka fan, there is always something good about a Harvey Wallbanger (or maybe I just like the name) the yellow bird is a great drink too…
Can’t wait to make the Yellow Monkey…

Yeah, there is something good about a Harvey Wallbanger, though I make them at the rate of about one every two years. Hope you enjoy this one!
