Regular readers know of my fondness for the books of Jeff “Beachbum” Berry, a fellow Angeleno and general master of all things tiki. The Bum has written three excellent books of tiki cocktailiana, the Grog Log, Intoxica! and Taboo Table, all of which provide recipes for old and new drinks that illuminate the fascinating history of pop-Polynesian culture that so captivated mid-century America.

And yet (be still my heart), Beachbum Berry has a brand new book coming out this summer. Sippin’ Safari will include more sure-to-be delicious recipes and the stories of the people who made and served them during the height of the tiki cocktail craze. No precise release date, but you can pre-order at a 10% discount on the publisher’s site.
