Deep Purple Punch

Mixology Monday is back again, but slightly more challenging. I admit, I completely forgot about it until, oh, six o’clock today, but I did what I always do when confronted with a cocktail dilemma: I went to CocktailDB.
So, faced with a “grape” challenge, what does one do? Wine is out, so that leaves other grape avenues to be explored. But what on Earth do you do with liquor and grape juice? After some research, I decided on the Deep Purple Punch. A little grape juice, a little rum, a little shaking and you’re set.
1 1/2 oz white rum
1 oz grape juice
1 oz passion fruit syrup
1/2 oz fresh lime juiceShake all ingredients and strain into tall glass filled with crushed ice.
It so happens that I am very fond of grape juice, so I was predisposed to be fond of this. The drink was too sweet to be palatable all the time, but I enjoyed the sweet and tangy mix of grape, lime and passion fruit.
And it’ll turn your tongue purple, which, to my mind, is always a plus.
