Liberty Bell

December 9th, 2005  |  Published in bourbon, brandy, liqueur, whiskey

If the hype is to be believed, freedom is a heady intoxicant. That’s what seems to be the popular consensus.

This could be why the Liberty Bell is such a spectacular drink, drawing on the connotations of its name to bewitch the drinker.

Then again, it could just be a really great cocktail all on its own.

2 oz bourbon
1 oz peach schnapps
dash apricot brandy
dash Campari

Stir all ingredients in a mixing glass over ice, strain into a martini glass and serve.

Though this sounds like it’s going to be a sickeningly sweet, syrupy, Spring-Break-and-the-keys-to-Dad’s-car drink, it’s really a very smooth, balanced mix of ingredients. So smooth, in fact, that you could easily forget that it’s solid alcohol and start enjoying this by the pitcher on warm summer nights. Then again, what’s better than a great drink while absoring a lovely night?
