Juniper Royale

November 26th, 2005  |  Published in gin, sparkling wine

Mmmmm, gin and champagne. Perhaps no one else will think so, but the Juniper Royale sounded positively yummy.

Adding orange juice and cranberry juice to champagne makes nice drinks individually, so together, and with gin, it looked like a winning combination. This deduction was verified by the experiment, which was a terribly anti-climactic result after some of the other (more surprising) champagne drinks.

1 oz gin
1/2 oz orange juice
1/2 oz cranberry juice
dash grenadine
sparkling wine

Shake ingredients—sans champagne—and strain into a champagne flute. Fill with wine and serve.

This sounded like a good idea and was a good idea. There is relatively little to say about this one, either good or bad. The taste is very pleasant, but the quality of the wine again affected the drink with a wine-y flavor, which muddied up the gin and juices.
